How do the seed libraries work?

Borrow

Choose the seeds you want to plant. Use scoops, envelopes, and labels to package them. Copy the planting instructions and take them home to grow.

Grow

Plant the seeds in your garden bed or containers. Follow the planting instructions for a successful result. Grow your veggies, fruit, and flowers until fully ripe.

Harvest

Collect mature seeds from your healthiest and tastiest fruits, flowers, and veggies. Make sure all seeds are fully dried and clean of dirt and debris.

Return

Place your seeds in a sealed envelope, jar, or container. Complete the form then bring it and the seeds to the seed library to share with your neighbors.

About our seeds

Our mission is to grow, save and share locally adapted, organic seeds to benefit the people who live in Napa County. We prioritize the exchange of seeds that are culturally significant. In other words, seeds that have a story and are celebrated by a group of people through their heritage and traditions. We do not share genetically modified or chemically treated seeds.
